Rendlesham Forest UFO Sculpture

The Forestry Commission has commissioned a model of a UFO to be placed in Rendlesham Forest; it is based on the descriptions of the object given by the witnesses. The life-size objet d'art was designed by the sculptress Olivia English and is made of black metal. It has some symbols on one of its flanks that are not meant to mean anything; "there's no secret code- it's art", said Ms English. The Commission is determined to remain "impartial" and has a long and almost hyperventilating disclaimer in the promotional literature for the model, as it does for the whole "Rendlesham UFO Trail", see: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-29280298.The local authorities around Rendlesham Forest seem to be very ambivalent about their region's extraterrestrial folk history. On the one hand, some of them have not missed attempting to exploit the incident for the area's economic prosperity, as Roswell has done (I personally challenge the moral objections to that, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/roswell-upon-avon.html), however there is clearly a hesitant and aversive tendency still very much in control. A few days before writing I attended the Rendlesham Forest Incident Conference 2014, see: http://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/rendlesham-forest-2014.html, and I was surprised to find that the venue, Woodbridge Town Hall, had no UFO-themed banner or posters on display outside; I found out that this was by order of the mayor's office! I'm not suggesting there was anything sinister going on, I'm sure Woodbridge has not seen any men in dark suits and sunglasses issuing threats, but it's clear that the official ridicule and denial... which is a quote by the way... is taking its toll. I look forward to the sculpture being erected in the clearing in Rendlesham Forest currently marked by a triangle of two-foot high posts; I'll probably go and visit it. I'm glad that the Forestry Commission takes the Rendlesham Forest UFO Incident at least seriously enough to fulfil a project like this; I hope it encourages others to do the same. However there is one more problem. The clearing on the UFO trail is often thought to be the place where the object landed on the first night, during the Burroughs and Penniston sighting, but it's probably not. It's actually close to the estimated location of the Halt sighting on the second night, where Lt. Col. Charles Halt, the deputy commander of the base, investigated a possible second landing site and saw a light shining through the trees and recorded his famous live tape, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxdNsSwMeDQ. The first night location has been extremely difficult to pin down, and there are almost as many theories as there are theorists. If you take a look at the UFO map of the area you'll see that the real place is most likely to be much further to the west, close to the Woodbridge East Gate, see: http://roswellproof.homestead.com/rendlesham_pictorial.html. I don't know if this error by the Forestry Commission is deliberate or accidental; or if it's deliberate, what motive they have thereof?

Tower Block Fire in Russia

A high-rise residential building at Krasnoyarsk in Russia has been struck by a major fire that has spread through a large part of the building. All one hundred and fifteen of the tower block's residents had to be evacuated; luckily none of them were hurt. See: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-29300687. More than seventy firemen with the help of a helicopter and a hundred emergency vehicles were involved in tackling the blaze and bringing it under control. Latest local media reports indicate that the fire is now extinguished and there is going to be a governmental inquiry into fire safety in Russian buildings, see: http://siberiantimes.com/other/others/news/shocking-blaze-rips-through-25-floor-apartment-block-in-krasnoyarsk/. When a high-rise structure catches fire it creates a particularly dramatic scene; this was what inspired the famous 1974 disaster movie The Towering Inferno, see: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072308/. This film used to be shown regularly on TV, but I've not seen it scheduled for quite a while... for some reason. There are real occasions that this has happened like with the Windsor Tower in Madrid, Spain that blazed for over twenty-four hours; it partially collapsed and later had to be demolished. The Olimp Hotel in Grozny, Chechnya suffered the same fate. The St Peter's Road block in Kingston-upon-Thames, England had to have four of its top floors removed due to a huge fire that broke out in it, but it did not collapse. In fact there is only one building on Earth which has ever suffered total structural failure purely due to the effects of fire, and it was WTC 7- the Salomon Brothers Building in New York on the 11th of September 2001. It fell supposedly due to damage from fire triggered by the impact of debris from WTC 1 and 2. It fell completely and instantly, in a single stage, from being one of New York's tallest and most impressive buildings into a pile of rubble... nay dust!... in less than seven seconds. This is despite the fact that the fires inside WTC 7 were not as severe as those in the Russian one, nor any of the other past incidents I've mentioned. Buildings that are damaged by physical shock, for example during an earthquake, can fall down, but not in the way WTC 7 did; they tilt and wobble and bits of them break off until the whole structure is destroyed. There is no natural or artificial force in the public domain that can turn a 610 foot tall skyscraper into a pile of powder. However I think there is a weapon developed in secret that can do this, see: http://vimeo.com/104805235.

The Dancing Guardsman

One of the most definitive sights that people associate with London, especially foreign tourists, is the Queen's Guard with their red tunics and huge bearskin hats. The Household Division of the army maintains a continuous ceremonial and security watch on several areas of the royal residences, most visibly in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace. There are usually four men on duty at a time and they either stand at ease or attention, or march up and down. They're armed with a standard army assault rifle with a fixed bayonet and sometimes you'll see them shift their weapon from one hand to the other. All these manoeuvres are very tightly timed and directed. Every day at about 11 AM the Changing of the Guard takes place in which a fresh guard unit relieves the one on duty in a very ordered and ostentatious manner; when this happens the streets nearby are invariably packed with onlookers from all over the world. I always find these displays very unsettling; to me these men look inhuman, or not even alive. They're like robots. My own brief experience of military life revealed to me how the discipline of the armed forces is very intensely imposed, to the point where my individual thoughts were reduced to irrelevant trivia.

However, a few weeks ago the tourists at Buckingham Palace experienced a rare treat. One of the guardsmen deviated very significantly from the regulation drill. As he marched in the usual way, he also pirouetted like a dancer, stooped to pick something off the ground, froze in mid stride and then moved in slow motion. He then brushed his rifle and the wall of his guard box as if there were dust on it. A visitor to London called Andy Richards filmed the spectacle and uploaded it to YouTube where it has gone viral, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5D9Z-zSFPQI. The unnamed soldier from the Grenadier Guards regiment, whom the media have nicknamed "Private Dancer", was immediately confined to quarters and the army authorities have launched an investigation. It has been reported that the soldier has been charged with “conduct prejudicial to good order and service discipline." The Grenadier Guards are considered the most senior regiment of the Foot Guards of the Household Division, and this aggravates the "offence" committed. He will face a military tribunal that could sentence him to a £1000 fine or three weeks in the military prison at Colchester, without pay of course. After his release he may face further reprimand in terms of punishment duties, loss of privileges and restricted liberty. No doubt he'll be made an example of in case any of his comrades get any similar notions of independency, see: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/theroyalfamily/11096982/Buckingham-Palace-dancing-Guardsman-may-face-prison.html. That is totally unfair! Personally I think he deserves a medal! It makes me feel very hopeful when I see a human being choosing to act like human beings, instead of allowing himself to be mutated into a mindless biological automaton, like the "Epsilons" from Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. We need more people to breach procedure, turn against conformism, think for themselves and act on their own thoughts and conscience; not fewer. This applies to everybody, not just soldiers. Despite the barrage of indoctrination a new recruit to the armed forces has to cope with there have been many occasions when military personnel have mutinied after they've been ordered to carry out some abominable war crime. There's no way to be certain, but I suspect that "Private Dancer" is one of those great men who would be the first to lay down his arms in such an horrific situation. Now that's what I call a real hero!

Ruwa UFO- Twenty Years On

Children tend to be bad liars, despite the frequent times when they make a lot of effort. One thing you'll find is that when they become adults they'll usually confess to lies they've told as children, should anybody recall them. If they don't, then it means that what they said when they were children was almost certainly true, especially if sixty-two of them all agree. If a qualified and experienced child psychologist was present when they were relating their story as children, then in my view it puts their testimony beyond question. And claiming that said testimony is so extraordinary that it "cannot be true!"... because it is so extraordinary, is just a cop-out. It is now twenty years ago to the day, Friday the 16th of September 1994, that children playing in the grounds of a school in Zimbabwe rushed up to their teachers and told them that they'd seen an extraterrestrial craft land and that they'd encountered a being from another world. The reaction from the teachers was incredulity at first, understandably. However as they talked more with their pupils over time they intuitively understood that the children were telling the truth. Who could they turn to for help? Luckily a veteran UFOlogist lived nearby, Cynthia Hind the MUFON representative for Africa who sadly passed away in 2000. Her report forms the basis of what has become one of the most fascinating UFO encounters of all time; one which bears some resemblance to the Westall Incident which I wrote about before, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/was-westall-ufo-balloon.html. Fortunately her research was quickly followed up by the late, great Dr John E Mack. He travelled to Zimbabwe and arrived in December with his assistant Dominique Callimanopulos and interviewed the witnesses on camera.
Ruwa is a small town in the environs of Zimbabwe's capital Harare, surrounded by farmland and forest. On the night of Thursday the 15th of September 1994 many people across the whole of southern Africa reported seeing strange lights in the sky; these were thought to be meteors by astronomers. The following day at about 10:15 AM the children at the Ariel Primary School in Ruwa, Zimbabwe were having a break in the playground when they reported that some unidentified flying objects appeared in the sky. Three of these objects descended to the ground into an area of scrub and small trees at the back of the school where the children were not allowed to wander; however their curiosity got the better of them and they moved out of bounds to find out what had landed. They found the three objects, one much larger than the other two and resembling a classic disk, either resting on or hovering just above the ground. The largest one had a number of muticoloured lights all over it. Standing beside this object was a humanoid figure dressed in a black suit, described as being "like a diver's wetsuit", with long hair. It had very big and highly unusual eyes, "like rugby balls" as one witness put it. When the entity moved it was described as "slow motion running". A second identical entity was reported by the children, but it stayed in the vicinity of the craft. Dr John Mack was able to reach the school within two months of the incident and conducted a series of in depth interviews with the witnesses. These were children aged six to twelve; they were both back and white, and some were of mixed race. They were from privileged backgrounds by Zimbabwean standards; Ariel is a private school and the education available there is the best available in the country. The children had drawn pictures of what they saw which Cynthia Hind and Dr Mack were able to examine. The object reputedly made a loud noise, like "somebody blowing a flute" which frightened the children. They were also alarmed because they'd never seen anything like that before; they feared being abducted. However only a few of them were familiar with the modern Western concept of UFO's and alien abduction; these ideas are not a normal part of society in that region. Even though it never spoke out loud, it seems that the mere presence of the creature put these thoughts into their heads. During their close encounter, some of the children relate that they had what could be described as telepathic communication with the being from the UFO. The being warned the contactees that "the world is going to end if we don't look after the planet properly. All the trees will fall down and there will be no air. People will be dying." This is a common feature of these kinds of experiences. Their teachers also spoke to Dr Mack and Ms Callimanopulos; they reported how the pupils behaved in the aftermath of the encounter. They knew their charges well and the sincerity of their stories made the teachers believe them.
Cynthia Hind said that this is not the first time she's come across a case like this and that it has similarities to an incident she investigated that took place in Broadhaven in Wales; she probably means this one: http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread871551/pg1. There are two other more tentative events that happened in two other schools in Zimbabwe that day. The children who witnessed the UFO at the Ariel School in Ruwa are now young adults in their twenties and thirties. A few investigators have tracked them down to do follow-up interviews. This has not been easy since most of them have emigrated. Zimbabwe is a very unhappy country. It has had terrible economic problems and has been ruled by a tyrannical regime since 1980; almost everybody who can afford to get out of the country has done so. Nevertheless some of the witnesses have commented and they all stand by the story they told Dr Mack as six to twelve year olds back in 1994. A few days ago a South African newspaper published a story about a reporter who managed to speak to the last Ruwa witness still living in Zimbabwe. She wished to remain anonymous, the paper calls her "Sarah", but she seems to be quite outspoken about her experience. She was interviewed in a pub and the other people around her were familiar with her story. However she seems disturbed by what she experienced and her memories are clearly painful, see: http://mg.co.za/article/2014-09-04-remembering-zimbabwes-great-alien-invasion. The film maker mentioned in the article, Randall Nickerson, has completed his documentary and it is freely available online at the time of writing, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNcx8YE34Xw. There's no doubt at all, as far as I'm concerned, that something very strange happened that day twenty years ago; all the eyewitness testimony and follow-up researcher is of the best quality. It remains to be seen how much more can be gained from talking to the witnesses today, but I'm glad to see that this work is continuing. Hopefully more answers will come soon about this remarkable close enounter.

Guided Buses

This article is a follow-up to one I did in June; please read it for essential background: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/driverless-cars.html.
Last week's Oxford Times had a front page article on guided buses. Several traffic and transport officials in Oxfordshire County Council have suggested installing a guided busway in the area; it is to be based on the Cambridge model. The Cambridgeshire Guided Busway is the longest in the world, stretching from Huntingdon railway station to Trumpington, a suburb south of Cambridge. The route includes two guided sections altogether making up sixteen miles. A guided bus is a passenger vehicle powered by a conventional diesel or electric engine with normal wheels and chassis etc. It looks outwardly like any other bus, except that it can be steered by external means. There are several different guided bus systems; the most common is kerb-guidance in which the bus has a second set of wheels mounted horizontally which rest on a track running along the side of specialized carriageways, so steering the vehicle along the lane. In this way guided buses resemble, in role and function, light railways or trams, except guided buses are far more versatile because they can retract the guide-wheels and drive on ordinary roads as well, where they are manually controlled by the driver using a steering wheel like any other bus. There are more sophisticated guided bus systems in which the bus has no extra wheels and no track; instead an electronic optical system follows a painted line on the road. In this way guided bus lanes have no special infrastructure and are essentially exactly the same as ordinary roads; they can even double up as them. I'm in no doubt that these vehicles represent a transition between the personally-controlled and the driverless transport that I discuss in the background article above. Like driverless cars, guided buses have advantages; they are faster, safer, easier to use and more fuel efficient. It's perfectly understandable that the planners at Oxon County Council are considering installing them. However, the general trend they represent does concern me for the reasons I describe in the background article. I know a bus is not personal transport anyway, but it is a way of testing and introducing the technology necessary to manipulate personal transport. What works for buses could just as easily work for private cars; maybe even motorcycles. We're handing over more and more of our individual means of travel to higher authorities which gives them more and more power to monitor and control our movements as they see fit.

Zombie Update- September 2014

For some time I have been reporting on the global spate of zombie-like behaviour; it continues. The latest incident sounds very comical, and the media treat it partly as a novelty story. In April 2014 a woman walked into a McDonalds burger bar in Florida wearing nothing but thong panties. She then proceeded to vandalize the service area, pushing cash registers and displays off the counter, tipping over a refrigerator and eating ice cream directly from the dispenser. After that she walked into the kitchen and seized some French fries. The outlet's staff hid in a backroom during the woman's rampage, but after she had gone they saw the funny side of the whole thing and posted the CCTV footage onto LiveLeaks. The woman sexually assaulted a police officer while resisting arrest, but was taken to hospital following an examination by a doctor. She has been interviewed by the media and is called Sandra Suarez (Any relation to Luis? See background links). She claims to be suffering from a depressive disorder and has no memory of her actions. I don't believe the story that she became violent after one of the McDonalds staff rejected her proposition for sex; that's probably an embellishment. The LiveLeaks copy is uncensored (hence I won't post a link, but you can find it by searching) and has commentary by the laughing McDonalds employees; or ex-employees. They've all been sacked apparently. One of them says: "she reminds me of like the zombie apocalypse or something!" Same here. See: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/09/sandra-suarez-topless-woman-mcdonalds_n_5117548.html (Thanks to Samantha Mansi for bringing this to my attention). There are indeed distinct similarities between Ms Suarez' hysterical seizure and some of the other incidents that I bring up in the background links. The concerns I have for those other incidents I also feel for this one in Florida in April.

The construction of new National Bio and Agro-Defence Facility is currently going ahead, see background links. President Obama personally allocated an additional $300 million towards the project in the upcoming 2015 budget. This is on top of the original $440 million originally granted by Congress in 2013. The management of the facility will be shared by the US Department of Homeland Security and the US Department of Agriculture’s Agriculture Research Service, and Animal Plant Health Inspection Service, Veterinary Services, see here for their official website: http://www.dhs.gov/national-bio-and-agro-defense-facility. The infamous "Building 257" will be among the services transferred directly from the old Plum Island compound to its new home in Manhattan, Kansas. The book Lab 257 by Michael Carroll postulates a link between activities on Plum Island and Lyme Disease. During the 1950's and 60's the USDA Animal Disease Centre played an important part in the American biological warfare programme which was cancelled by President Richard Nixon in 1970... supposedly. In 1975 in the town of Lyme, Connecticut USA, a large proportion of the population were struck down by a strange and previously unheard of illness that caused fever, fatigue, joint stiffness and neurological conditions; some people also came down with strange skin rashes that consisted of a central spot surrounded by a ring. The cause was isolated to be a type of bacteria called a spirochaete spread by the bite of a tick. Doctors treated what was quickly christened "Lyme Disease" with antibiotics. However many patients continued to suffer symptoms after the infection was said to have been cleared up, in some cases for years. These patients called their problem "chronic Lyme Disease" or Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome- PTLDS, but most doctors do not recognize that as an actual condition. Like Gulf War Syndrome or vaccine-related autism, it was labelled as a fringe and unscientific notion, even that old chestnut- a "conspiracy theory". Patients were instead diagnosed with syphilis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, ALS, Lupus, psychological neuroses and similar complaints and were therefore given treatment that had no effect. In 2009 a film was released on this issue called Under Our Skin, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWFFiIZgr6U (Thanks to Ryan Carr for bringing this to my attention). This is a big subject that requires a dedicated article, but I know somebody who suffers from chronic Lyme so I'll have a word with her and keep you posted in a future update.

Was the Westall UFO a Balloon?

I strongly recommend buying a copy of Issue 8 of UFO Truth magazine, see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/ufo-truth-magazine-issue-8.html. Of course I'm a columnist for it and you'll find an article within by my good self, but if you somehow need another reason to read the magazine then it is another article in it by the Australian researcher Bill Chalker. It's an analysis of a news story that came to the attention of us both a few weeks ago, see: http://m.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/westall-ufo-incident-was-actually-government-radiation-testing-reports-reveal/story-fni0fit3-1227015591764?nk=48845553e7ce2dd6594fb0185ba80c46.

The Westall UFO Incident is a close encounter event that took place on the morning of Wednesday April the 6th 1966 in Clayton South, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. The story goes that a purplish-grey disk-shaped object flew over Westall High School while a PE lesson was underway in the playground. The object headed south-westwards descending steadily. A crowd of over two hundred people chased the UFO, mostly school pupils and their teachers. The object came down in a woodland area near the school known as the Grange. Soon afterwards it touched down in a grassy clearing, called a "paddick" in Australia, the onlookers reached it and approached it quite close; it was about twenty feet across. They watched it for about twenty minutes, and then it rose sharply and speedily up into the air and sped away to the northwest. The grass and other plants on the ground where the object had landed were scorched and withered. Some witnesses report that there were a large number of low-flying light aircraft around at the time which was highly unusual. Less than an hour after that a contingent of emergency services, police and military personnel arrived on the scene and sealed off the Grange; the soldiers were identified as American by their uniforms. A group of sinister-looking officials wearing suits showed up soon afterwards and took charge. The entire school was brought to assembly in the hall and the headmaster warned them not to talk about what had happened; the teachers were briefed in a special staff meeting to tell the children that what they'd seen was just a balloon. The teacher who had taken photographs of the UFO had her camera confiscated. The newspapers reported the following day that a weather balloon had been launched and blown off course, for example see: http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=MDQ-9Oe3GGUC&dat=19660407&printsec=frontpage&hl=en. This insinuates that a weather balloon was what the children had seen in the Grange. The sinister men also interviewed some of the witnesses personally in a very intimidating and ridiculing manner. The Grange was cordoned off for a few days and when the area was reopened to the public the grass in the paddick had all been mowed and the stubble burnt. The witnesses have recently become highly organized and have worked closely with researchers and the film makers Rosie Jones and Shane Ryan. Here is their documentary about Westall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ih31ehCarM. There is no record relating to the Westall Incident in any Australian government files, the local TV company has "lost the tapes" of their coverage of the event.

There has been no explanation for what happened in South Clayton on that day in 1966, until the researcher Keith Basterfield published his hypothesis under discussion in the news article, that what had come down at the school had been a high altitude balloon- a "HIBAL". These balloons were not part of a classified operation, but they had been deployed for a very sensitive purpose, to monitor the radiation levels from the British nuclear bomb tests which had been carried out at Maralinga a few years previously. Basterfield's reasons for his hypothesis are that a rogue HIBAL balloon was spotted shortly before Westall by a "Mr and Mrs Frankie" trailing a hose which had been used to fill the envelope with gas. Also the prompt arrival of the military on the scene must have meant they were on standby not far away; this is a feature of two other UFO incidents I know of, see: http://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/berwyn-40.html and: http://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/notts-roswell-2.html. Basterfield has uncovered documents saying that the government was concerned in case one of these balloons went off course and landed in a populated area. However, the lack of any reference at all to an unplanned landing at Westall in the Australian government's archives throws this possibility into doubt, according to Bill Chalker. What's more, there was indeed an incident in Sydney in which a real HIBAL got lost and ended up crashing; the witnesses' descriptions are totally different to that of those who were at Westall. Researchers who have dealt with the Westall witnesses are very impressed by their clarity, positivity and how the different individuals' stories converge. Whatever Mr Basterfield's reason for his hypothesis, he needs to consider these factors before proceeding with it. Using balloons to falsely explain UFO sightings is very unoriginal indeed. The Roswell incident was dismissed as a weather balloon; later on this morphed into a balloon related to "Project Mogul". Even the day after Westall the media had already suggested the ubiquitous weather balloon as a solution. Most strange of all, the sinister men in suits who were crawling all over the school in the aftermath of the UFO incident were keen to persuade the children that they'd seen a balloon; why would they do that if they were trying to cover up an illicit balloon crash? Unfortunately the Herald Sun article repeats Basterfield's theory more or less unchallenged; it's suspicious how the media is always so keen to promote ideas like this without question or allowing counter-propositional material.
See here for Keith Basterfield's original blog post on Westall: http://ufos-scientificresearch.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/hibal-westall-hypothesis-under-test.html.

Hillsborough Cover-up Continues

We often hear it said that "conspiracy theories are never proven true!" Yet again and again this is shown to be false. One enduring conspiracy theory concerns one of the worst disasters in British history. On the 15th of April 1989 at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield the gates of one of the stands were opened and a large crowd of people ran in to watch a football match. This resulted in the stand becoming grossly overcrowded to the point where almost a hundred people were crushed to death; and another thousand were injured. The match in progress was an FA Cup semi final and the full horror was seen by millions of people on live TV. The official inquest, known as the Taylor Report, recommended changes to health and safety procedures at football matches and architectural adaptations to football grounds, but the bottom line of the inquiry was that nobody was to blame except the victims, and that it was just a freak tragic accident. There has been a long campaign by the relatives of those who perished in the disaster to take the police, the local authorities and Football Association to task. After twenty years this finally resulted in an overturning the coroners' original verdict of "accidental death", see: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/hillsborough-cover-up.html. Since I wrote that background article there has been another development. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-28543345. This new revelation from PC Trevor Bichard indicates that the police and stadium management were criminally negligent on that day; not only that, but they attempted to hush up their own debacle. Who did tell Bichard to lie? We deserve to know. This is only one of many "conspiracy theories proven true!" that have occurred in the last couple of years. Another good example is the exposure of Jimmy Savile, see: http://hpanwo-hpwa.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/jimmy-saviles-hospital-crimes.html. Is this is a part of the 2012 effect? I know many people who are what I call "2012 casualties", those whose hopes were very high for some major and unmistakable upliftment on the very day of the 21st of December 2012, and were so bitterly disappointed when nothing happened that they've basically given up... Well maybe something did happen. Don't give up!

Stop Benefit Sanctions!

A while ago I wrote an article about a man called "Terry" who worked in a Job Centre Plus who had contacted me.
Please read this for essential background: http://hpanwo-voice.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/jobcentre-minus.html.
Since then he has informed me that there is a petition you can sign to try and stop this unfair and brutal treatment of unemployed people, see: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/benefit-sanctions-must-be-stopped-without-exceptions-in-uk?bucket. This petition was started by an admirable person called Ana Pepa Akatix. It's worth reading what she says in the petition description. Incidentally I have received no reply to the letter I talk about in the background link, to the Department of Work and Pensions.

Fluoride and the Pineal

The pineal gland is one of the most interesting parts of the human body. You've probably never seen yours, unless you've had a brain scan and been allowed to examine it yourself, but you do have one. Almost all species in the vertebrate subphylum do- that's fish, sharks, reptiles, birds and mammals. It is very small, about the size of a grain of rice, and is located deep in the centre of the brain, but it seems to be crucial to bodily health. It's shaped like a pine cone, hence its name, and is unique in brain structures due to its placement on the midline and not being one of a left and right pair. It produces the hormone melatonin which is responsible for regulating human sleeping patterns and also changes in our body over the turning of the seasons. I know from my experience of working night shifts as a hospital porter that no matter how well I slept during the day I'd still be effected by drowsiness whilst on duty; this is because despite my roster allocation, my pineal gland was busy pouring out the usual night time dose of melatonin, telling my endocrine system that I really should be in bed. The 17th century French philosopher Rene Descartes claimed that the pineal gland was the "principle seat of the soul"- where the spiritual and material aspects of human consciousness interact, in the dualist school. This is known as the "third eye" in oriental mysticism, connected to psychic powers and connections with the gods. No scientific research was done into this theory until the 1990's when Dr Rick Strassman carried out the first legal research involving psychedelic drugs for almost twenty years, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-9AHa9YXmM. His conclusion was that, along with melatonin, the pineal gland also produced N, N-Dimethyltryptamine or "DMT", a powerful psychotropic chemical. This can be taken as a drug in many different preparations, but it was not thought to be produced naturally by the body before Strassman's work. This means that the body has its own means of generating spiritual and mind-expanding experiences. However because of the moratorium on psychedelic investigation, this research is several decades behind where it should be today. Before Dr Strassman, the last scientist to carry out such experiments with human participants was Prof. Stanislav Grof in the early 1970's, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEdxrHud5tE.

The reason for the taboo over psychedelic research is that it's a spin-off from the criminalization of LSD, along with many other associated substances, across the world over the course of the 1960's. Political leaders decided that such drugs were harmful, unhealthy and did damage to the human mind and, as a result, human society. However this was a very controversial decision and it remains so to this day. Many of those who have experienced LSD report that is has extremely beneficial effects, aiding creativity and spirituality as well as general lightness of being. As always, there are misadventures too in which those who have taken the drug recklessly suffer physical and psychological injury as a result, but many think that these negative stories have grabbed far more than their fair share of the headlines, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7D0BeLz5blM. I find the authorities' attitude towards narcotics very confusing and contradictory. For instance, there are two drugs that are perfectly legal and are very widely available and accessible- alcoholic beverages and tobacco products. The government has no problem with the endemic use of these substances even though they are the cause of enormous medical and social problems; cancer, heart disease, road traffic accidents, addiction, violence etc etc. Naturally these substances are easy to tax and I'm sure that's an incentive on one level, but could there be a deeper motive? I've recently been wondering if the secrets our rulers keep from us extend beyond the other subjects I've spoken of regularly- UFO's, free energy, 9/11 etc, into other areas of knowledge. People who are spiritually aware and have had psychedelic experiences are often far less deferential to authority than those who haven't. They also tend to live a more independent and less conformist lifestyle. What's more the government seem to like their people to be demoralized and despondent, the states of mind spiritual experiences can break us out of. I discuss this in more detail towards the end of my recent lecture at the High Wycombe paranormal group, see: http://hpanwo-tv.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/ben-emlyn-jones-at-high-wycombe.html. So it makes sense from their point of view that they'd fear LSD and the changes it could bring to their relationship with their people. Today there are increasing moves to medicate drinking water with fluoride. Beginning in the 1940's this contentious practice has spread; more and more water suppliers are adding fluoride under the pretext that it increases dental health and reduces tooth decay. However I strongly suspect that the real reason the authorities are doing it is that it has significant effects on the human mind. It is apparently increases docility and suggestibility, making people easier to govern; they'd be less likely to revolt and more likely to collaborate. Also fluoride does something else that brings us back to the work of Dr Strassman; it damages the pineal gland.
The pineal gland is very often afflicted over time by a condition called corporea arenacea- a Latin term that literally means "body sand", in which calcium deposits build up inside it. It is so common that it is considered normal and the process increases slowly as people age, although it has been observed in people as young as seventeen. Even though the pineal is deep inside the brain the progress of corporea arenacea can be observed because the organ shows up better on X-rays as the calcium calluses thicken and solidify. The activity of the pineal is inhibited over time as the deposits build up and in the 1990's Jennifer Luke, a British scientist, discovered that fluoride has been found in the pathology reports of corporea arenacea sufferers when previously the deposits were mostly calcium and phosphorus. Experiments on animals showed that this new fluoridated form of corporea arenacea greatly reduced the pineal gland's normal function; melatonin levels became unstable and this led to sleeping disorders and many other problems. It seemed that the pineal is more vulnerable to fluoride than any other part of the body; this fact is not recognized by current government health and safety tests being done related to water fluoridation, nor its use as an ingredient in toothpaste, see: http://fluoridealert.org/issues/health/pineal-gland/. Could the governments' drive to add fluoride in our water be connected to their dread of universal psychedelic awareness because of Dr Strassman's discovery? Maybe. Either way, it's another good reason to campaign against fluoride in drinking water.

The Secret Club that Runs the World by Kate Kelly

The Secret Club that Runs the World can be purchased in bookshops or on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Club-that-Runs-World/dp/1480597058.
I don't normally recommend books that I haven't read yet, but in this case I shall. This comes after reading an interview with the author Kate Kelly in The Big Issue. She has just published a new book with a very HPANWO-esque title: The Secret Club that Runs the World. The book discusses the possibility that a secret cabal is operating inside the stock market, specifically the trade in commodity futures; this is a form of trading which bets on the future price of commodities- raw materials like oil, minerals and farm produce. There's nothing inherently wrong with this, in fact it can be useful. For example, if you run an airline you will need to plan your business for the year ahead, so you might ask a futures speculator for a forecast on the price of oil so that you know how much jet fuel is likely to cost during the coming twelve months. In doing so you might even invest in a direct futures contract yourself to compensate your company should your forecast be too low. Speculators today earn trillions of dollars, far more on average than conventional stockbrokers. The problem is that the futures market is starting to have an effect on the price of goods in the real world of the everyday consumer. This of course aggravates the poverty that is endemic in the world today from other causes. The influence of the futures market comes from the fact that those who trade in current commodities are trying to regulate their own prices to ensure a profit based on the futures speculators predictions. No doubt those who have insider knowledge will perhaps buy or sell that stock accordingly themselves. For example, if many airlines buy a futures contract based on a coming 10% price rise of oil over the year ahead, then the owners of oil company stock might be tempted to rig the price of their own trade in a self-fulfilling prophesy that ensures a good return for their futures contracts; and indeed the futures people might collude with them for the same reason. However if this spreads too far then this could result in a price war that the ordinary person ends up paying for... as usual. The reason for Kate Kelly's title for the book is that she believes there's a "club" of those who have access to the full extent of commodity futures predictions and therefore have the means to control to prices for their own benefit, and everybody else's loss. Obviously I have very different ideas about who literally rules for the world; however, from the economic perspective, there is good reason to be concerned that this club might well exist and that it could therefore become a pawn in the more widespread agenda to knock down the world's financial system and rebuild in the image of those real rulers.

Was Orwell Mediocre?

The journalist Will Self has written an article in BBC News Magazine about George Orwell, the great writer, political pundit, social commentator and activist, see: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-28971276. Self sees English culture as one which exalts those who are extraordinarily ordinary and he suggests that Orwell is a prime example of an English mediocre hero. I don't think in this entire article he completely explains what this kind of extraordinary ordinariness is, an apparent paradox, let alone how he can apply it to Orwell. The bulk of Self's criticism of Orwell would appear to be his use of language on a technical level. English is a very remarkable language. It has a highly illogical grammar which contains a lot of idioms- structures which have emerged on their own and can't be categorized into any linguistic rulebook. For example if I ask the idiomatic question: Are you up for it? I actually mean "Do you want to do it?" However, by changing just one word I create the sentence: Are you up to it? This means something entirely different: "Are you able to do it?" English also has an enormous vocabulary, over half a million words; this is because it has lots of synonyms- multiple words which have similar or identical meanings. This is because hundreds of foreign languages have influenced the English lexicon, especially French, but also others imported into English through the British Empire. For example the word "dead" has many synonyms: deceased, departed, lifeless etc. Self notes that George Orwell has a habit of favouring words of Old English descent; these tend to be shorter, mostly single syllable, and generally regarded as simpler and less formal. He's not the only one who feels this way, see: http://www.plainenglish.co.uk/. This was a conscious style policy for Orwell; he deliberately tried to avoid the Normanisms, Dog Latin and pseudo-French which one often sees in the prose of academic scholars. Self sees this as an ironic betrayal, considering that Orwell himself raved against top-down linguistic manipulation, "Newspeak". I'm a writer myself and I really don't share Orwell's views; I enjoy the exotic taste of little-used and subtle expressions. I like neologisms too- words like selfie and twerk. I enjoy changes in language that evolve naturally from the minds of ordinary people in that great verbal common law of grass roots discussion. I'm opposed only to artificial changes imposed by authority for strategic ends, like political correctness. However I passionately dispute Will Self's opinion that this makes Orwell's writing in any way mediocre. Self's problem here is that he's missed the wood for the trees. Any technical creativity Orwell might have disregarded in favour of conformity is more than mitigated by his genius for explanation and communication via storyline, character, symbolism, satire, metaphor and contemplation; in this way he is far from mediocre. Later on in the article Self comes close to admitting that with these words: It was Orwell's own particular genius to possess a prose style that stated a small number of things with painful clarity. Moreover it's a style that along with its manifest virtues has a hidden, almost hypnotic one. Reading Orwell at his most lucid you can have the distinct impression he's saying these things, in precisely this way, because he knows that you - and you alone - are exactly the sort of person who's sufficiently intelligent to comprehend the very essence of what he's trying to communicate. So what is Self complaining about then? I fail to see the point of his article. George Orwell had the ability to expose fundamental revelations in the world of politics, society and humanity with a skill that any other author must envy. For me, Orwell was the ultimate prophet for the modern age and he expressed his portents with perfection. Whether this is because he knew about future plans from his membership of the Fabian Society, or whether he simply had incredible foresight and perspective, I don't know. Either way, if I ever want to recommend to anybody a fictional allegory for the world around us, I always tell them to go read Orwell. So what if he didn't indulge himself in pretentious godwottery; who cares?

Dame Kate Bush CBE

The singer Kate Bush has been appointed Commander of the most excellent order of the British Empire in the New Years Honours List of 2013; she attended the ceremony at Windsor Castle and was presented with her medal personally by the Queen, see: http://www.nme.com/news/kate-bush/69666#I8F3sloGI4wwMu0q.99. Kate commented to the press: "I feel incredibly thrilled to receive this honour which I share with my family, friends and fellow musicians and everybody who has been such an important part of it all. Now I've got something special to put on top of the Christmas tree." I feel enormously dismayed by this news story; has Kate Bush turned coat?

Kate Bush is one of the most talented singer-songwriters in the world and she has been one of the most influential musicians on my own life; she was also my first ever celebrity crush... when I was about four years old I think. I've related the story several times about the unforgettable childhood memory I have of when I first saw the video of her song Cloudbusting in the cinema, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF813vmbcQY. It haunted and consumed me for many years, and I had no idea why. It was a very long time later that I discovered that the track is a ballad about the life and works of Wilhelm Reich. It features Donald Sutherland playing Reich, and it's very unusual for a famous cinematic actor to star in a music video. Wilhelm Reich was a maverick scientist who developed radical ideas about life, energy, UFO's, psychology and human sexuality. He was ridiculed and rejected by the academic community and persecuted by the government. He was eventually put in prison where he died; see here for more details: http://hpanwo-radio.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/programme-36-podcast-peter-robbins.html. As I listened more carefully to Kate Bush's music I understood that she is a deeply nonconformist and unique thinker. She's not an overt political radical like John Lennon, Bob Dylan and many other musical acts, but her subversion takes on a more subtle and mystical form; she's more akin to Pink Floyd or The KLF. This kind of rebellion is no less important than the more conventional kind; in fact it's an essential ingredient without which the other forms of rebellion would flounder, and indeed those who reject it have. Kate shuns publicity and gives very few interviews; she guards her personal life fiercely, but it didn't surprise me to learn that she was once a member of a local UFO club which operated near where she lives. This is why when I see her curtsy before the Habsburg harridan it feels like a betrayal. Why didn't she refuse, like the famous poet Benjamin Zephaniah, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Zephaniah? Am I overreacting? Am I being too hard on Kate Bush? Possibly. It could be that Kate doesn't understand exactly what she's done... I hope so anyway.
